Israel Needs started small.

In October 2023, when reservists were being called up faster than the army could equip them, David Kovler started driving out to units with his own car packed with gear — water, thermal layers, headlamps, whatever he could buy or get donated that week. He'd find a unit, drop off what they needed, drive home, and figure out how to do it again the next day.

 

Two and a half years later, we're still doing the same thing — just at a bigger scale.

We're not a large organization. We don't have offices or salaried staff. We're a small team of volunteers working alongside Food For Thought Israel and a network of unit commanders who tell us what their soldiers actually need — not what a procurement form says they need.

 

That's what makes us different. When you donate to Israel Needs, you're not funding overhead. You're funding a pair of gloves, a ceramic plate, a sleeping bag rated for the Golan winter — and we can usually show you a photo of it being delivered within a week.

Who we serve

We focus on reservists — the men and women, fathers and mothers, teachers and software engineers and small business owners, who put on a uniform when their country called and went where they were sent. The IDF equips them as best it can. We fill the gaps.
